Local first, not local last
Calendars, currencies, tax rules, script direction and terminology are design inputs from the first day — never a translation layer added at the end.
MicroLens is a software company building business systems for Afghanistan and the wider region.
Plenty of businesses here run on paper, spreadsheets and memory — not because the people running them would not welcome better tools, but because the software on offer was written for somewhere else. It gets the calendar wrong. It cannot hold two currencies honestly. It treats Dari and Pashto as an afterthought, if it handles them at all.
We build the other kind. Systems designed around how the work is actually done here, in the languages people actually use, on the calendar they actually keep.
Micro — close, exact attention to detail. Lens — the instrument that brings a picture into focus. Together: perspective that drives growth.
That is the whole idea behind the name, and it is a fair description of the work. Most of what makes business software useful is not spectacular — it is the exchange rate locked to the right date, the tax band applied from the right schedule, the contract that prints correctly in Dari. Details, attended to closely, until the picture is clear.
Calendars, currencies, tax rules, script direction and terminology are design inputs from the first day — never a translation layer added at the end.
Tenants are isolated, access is controlled, every action is recorded, and a full backup is always one click away — yours to download and restore without asking us.
A system is not done when the code is written. It is done when it is deployed, backed up, understood by the people using it, and looked after.
Our home market is Afghanistan — that is where our products are in daily use and where our understanding runs deepest. The same constraints hold across much of the region: multiple currencies, non-Gregorian calendars, right-to-left scripts and businesses that cannot afford software which almost fits.
